Our Mission

First Steps Learning Center is committed to creating a nurturing environment where children can develop at their own pace, recognizing their unique needs and learning styles. The center adjusts its curriculum to meet each child's individual requirements upon enrollment. Emphasizing the importance of respecting various developmental stages, the center views childcare as an opportunity for children to cultivate independence and essential relationship skills. Encouraging active parental involvement, we believe that connecting home and childcare positively contributes to a child's sense of security. Research-driven, the center's philosophy is rooted in the works of Maslow, Vygotsky, Piaget, and Erickson, focusing on developmentally appropriate activities to foster creativity and promote holistic growth. Our goal is to equip children with the skills essential for future academic success within a warm and loving learning environment.

We offer a child centered program with special emphasis placed upon building strong language and thinking skills, phonics-based readiness, meaningful and concrete math understandings, and fine motor skills development to facilitate real writing skills. Our program is centered on high moral standards which seek to encourage self worth and respectability. We strive to maintain a nurturing staff who will work with your child in a caring and consistent way. Our center uses the Frog Street Curriculum which supports key learning domains and is aligned with state and national learning standards.

The curriculum will be based on current research and sound educational theories of early childhood learning and development. The program is designed to equip caregivers to foster essential growth & build a strong learning foundation. Frogstreet curriculum is designed to meet the needs of all learners and embrace learning each day.

The program will encourage involvement of family members in each child's learning.

Enrollment

First Step Learning Center is a licensed childcare center, therefore, it is a state requirement that we have all of the necessary state required forms completed before your child may enroll.

These forms include but are not limited to the following:

• Enrollment application
  
• Parent agreement form
  
• Physical release form
  
• USDA application
  

We must also keep an updated immunization record on file at all times. Please keep this information updated for the safety of your child and others.
